U-SIXTU HOTEL, FUTURE RITZ CARLTON

Prague

Hotel U Sixtu featured 145 rooms, each averaging 51 square meters, alongside amenities such as a lobby bar, restaurant, and health spa. Housed in 600-year-old structures, it boasted original features like stone vaults and wooden ceilings. Situated among six other historic buildings on Old Town Square along King’s Way in Prague, the older building underwent remodeling to enhance its structural integrity. This included reinforcing the pre-existing masonry and cracks using stainless steel rods. When designing this hotel, each room had its unique challenges, therefore, each room had its distinct layout and design. There were underground passageways in which guests could see the Roman and Gothic designs of the basement which then led them to the lobby of the hotel.

Original Concept by Steven W. Miller and Peter Inston, RIBA.
