The Fifth Bridge took inspiration from the culture of Dubai and national sources such as the rhythm and grace of Arabic calligraphy, sand dunes and waves. It represented connects Deira and Bur which connects both the newer and older sides of Dubai. It adheres to the US Green Building Council LEED Gold rating guidelines. Pedestrians will be able to use the walkways along the bridge which are shaded and the bridge will also have bikeways to promote non-vehicular traffic.
